Jane Judith Jocelyn by Kifir
Beautifully positioned to show off the volume of the skirt. Using the long lens helped create that beautiful bokeh in the background while keeping the full figure in focus.
Ao No Exorcist: night stroll by ~Akusesu
The control of light and color here is spectacular. Using the cool white light (showing blue) from the LED screen brings forward the face of the cosplayer in question, leaving the yellow (indoor) light to seperate the two planes of the photograph—and, of course, as contrasting colours, give it a bit of pop. The lines of the image help frame the subject and keeps them in the center of attention. Excellent stuff.

SKYE YOU LOOK PERFECT OMFG
Look at the richness in these photos. The colors are allowed to lay beauitfully saturated, with only rare areas of extreme highlights. Light is movie-like, layering thinly on top of the cosplayers and perfectly evoking shifting, amorphous moods. A good reminder to me that sometimes a perfectly exposed photograph doesn’t have to be all that bright, and darkness and loss of detail can be good when handled right.

Beautiful dramatic lighting, movie like effect and setting, excellent depth of detail on costume
Seishiro Sakurazuka by ~cainplus
careful set up of scene (note the tied on symbols in the trees), carefully directed light (at least one gelled flash from behind, another on the sakura and to camera left for Seishirou’s face), intense sense of mood through composition and light
Delicate use of color and scene, dramatic framing
